Sean joined Hooper Law in 2025 to expand the firm’s medical negligence practice. Previously, Sean was a partner at a boutique firm in Cambridge, Ontario focusing exclusively on medical negligence claims on behalf of injured patients across the province.
Sean’s practice includes complex medical negligence claims involving obstetrical care, surgical complications, delayed diagnoses, failures to assess risk of self-harm when providing mental healthcare and systematic breakdowns in hospital policies and procedures. He also advances claims on behalf of clients against pharmacies.
Sean is a frequent presenter at legal conferences. He is a past chair of the Ontario Trial Lawyer’s Association Medical Malpractice Section and co-chair of the 2022 OTLA Medical Malpractice Conference. He is a board member of OTLA.

Smith v. Safranyos – Motor Vehicle Accident
A horrendous two car collision occurred in the City of Hamilton. A vehicle operated by Ms. Dawn Safranyos, carrying four children, failed to yield the right of way and was “T-boned” at highway speed by an approaching vehicle.
8 Million Dollar Win at the Supreme Court of Canada
After winning a groundbreaking negligence ruling and award of $8 million for our catastrophically injured client in court in Ontario, we were successful at the Ontario Court of Appeal and again at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Spinal Cord Injury – Muir v. City of Brantford
Our client was rendered a quadriplegic after losing control of his bike along the Grand River. The City was ultimately found to be negligent for failing to notice and address unraveling pavement and loose rocks in such a dangerous location on the trail.

Ontario court rejects acquittal of Hamilton-area man found not guilty of 2nd-degree murder
