Hooper Law is pleased to announce that Robert J. Hooper has been appointed as a Member of the Beverley McLachlin Access to Justice Award Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) for the 2025–2026 term. His appointment will officially begin at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., and continue through to the 2026 Annual Meeting in New York City.

Named in honour of The Honourable Beverley McLachlin, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, this distinguished award recognizes a judge or member of the bar in the United States or Canada who has played an exceptional role in promoting access to justice. The Award celebrates innovative measures, extraordinary personal commitment, and professional dedication that have tangibly enhanced access to justice in North America.

The Beverley McLachlin Access to Justice Award Committee is responsible for identifying and recommending outstanding candidates who embody these ideals. Serving under Committee Chair Martha McCarthy (Toronto, ON) and Vice Chair Craig A. Thompson (Baltimore, MD), the committee plays a pivotal role in advancing one of the College’s core missions: ensuring meaningful access to justice for all.

Mr. Hooper’s appointment reflects both his leadership and his long-standing dedication to the principles of effective public service that define the ACTL. His participation on this committee underscores his commitment to improving the justice system and supporting initiatives that make legal representation more accessible and equitable.
