Meet Sean Hayward, B.A. (Hons), M.A., J.D.: Strengthening Hooper Law’s Medical Negligence Practice
Hooper Law proudly welcomes Sean Hayward to our team.
Sean brings extensive experience in complex medical negligence litigation. Before joining Hooper Law in 2025, he served as a partner at a boutique firm in Cambridge, Ontario, where he focused exclusively on medical negligence claims on behalf of injured patients across the province. His work has included cases involving obstetrical care, surgical complications, delayed diagnoses, failures to assess risk of self-harm in mental healthcare settings, and systemic failures within hospital policies and procedures. Sean also represents clients pursuing claims against pharmacies.
With a career defined by leadership in the field, Sean is a respected contributor to the legal community. He is a frequent presenter at legal conferences and a past Chair of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) Medical Malpractice Section. He also served as Co-Chair of OTLA’s 2022 Medical Malpractice Conference and currently sits on the OTLA Board of Directors.
Sean was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2015. He holds a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University (2024), a Master of Arts in History from Queen’s University (2011), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History from McGill University (2010).
He is also an active member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Hamilton Law Association, the Waterloo Regional Law Association, and the Shade Mills Law Association.
